Webinar co-organized by NGIoT, AIOTI, and IoT Forum

In the past years the role of standardisation as a bridge between research activities and the market has been increasingly recognised, both by EU institutions and by R&D stakeholders. The incorporation of the latest knowledge into new standards can provide the foundation for further developments, new research and ultimately new knowledge, creating a virtuous knowledge circle of standards and research. This workshop, co-organised by NGIoT, AIOTI and the IoT Forum will be composed of three online webinars. It will start by identifying and discussing the latest developments and priorities in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge computing standardisation. It will identify and discuss priority needs from the industry with regards to IoT and Edge Computing standardisation. The webinar will discuss how these various efforts can converge to support globally interoperable IoT and edge computing technologies and how can upcoming research support this development, including in specific verticals such as industrial IoT, telecommunication services, health, home, energy and mobility.

Key Objectives

  • Identify current and future priority needs for IoT and edge computing standardisation.
  • Information sharing on the latest developments related to IoT and edge computing standardisation.
  • Support dialogue and collaboration among IoT related SDOs to foster convergence towards globally interoperable solutions for the IoT and edge computing across domains.
  • Elaborate and propose a proactive strategy for enhancing the contribution of European research projects to global standardisation effort.
  • Identifying the driving sectors in IoT Edge computing standardisation

Session titles

  • IoT and Edge Computing Standardisation Challenges
  • European Research and Standardisation in IoT and Edge Computing for Industrial IoT, Telecommunications and Automotive Domains
  • European Research and Standardisation in IoT and Edge Computing for Home, Living, Energy and Mobility
