SUMMARY:Monitoring the uptake of Advanced Technologies for effective Industry 4.0 policies
DESCRIPTION:Advanced technologies are currently fueling the so-called “fourth industrial revolution”\, with the potential of transforming EU industries and creating enormous growth of the European economy. In response to the challenges related to this continuous transformation\, most of the EU governments have made Industry 4.0 a priority adopting large-scale policies to increase productivity and competitiveness and improve the high-tech skills of their workforce. \nIn this context\, the Advanced Technologies for Industry (ATI) project provides a systematic monitoring of technological trends and data on advanced technologies to properly support the implementation of policies and initiatives and finally promote a competitive European industry. \nThis event has two main objectives: \n\nto present some interesting tools monitoring advanced technologies’ trends and developments such us the Data dashboard and Technology Watch reports on AI and IoT which can represent a valuable source of information when planning and implementing I4.0 policies at national level;\n\n\nto discuss how to better monitor technology uptake across EU sectors giving voice to Industry 4.0 platforms and to share and exchange experiences in order to benefit from ATI in a practical way\, for example through the definition of joint projects or the formulation of questions to policy makers.\nThe event is addressed primarily to Industry 4.0 platforms\, but all interested stakeholders are welcome to join.\n\n \nFor more information and registration: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/ATIMakeitworkIndustry40 \n

SUMMARY:NGIoT Thematic Workshop: Agrifood and Rural communities
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is part of the thematic workshop series organised by Next Generation IoT (NGIoT). The workshops are hosted by NGIoT and EU-Iot projects together with the European Commission + relevant associations\, networks\, projects and organisations. \nThe objective of these thematic workshops is to mobilise the community in anticipation of the upcoming Horizon Europe and Digital Europe programmes\, and to consolidate priorities from the communities of stakeholders in a roadmap for Europe (the main objective for NGIoT)\, both relating to technologies and with respect to supporting the range of relevant policies\, including the green deal. \nThe afternoon of 30 March 2021 will be dedicated to presentations and discussions in the domain of agrifood and rural smart communities. The workshop will bring together the visions on smart communities from several associations and projects: Living-in.EU\, AURORAL and dRural and the more sectoral aspects DEMETER\, ATLAS\, IoF2020 and SmartAgriHubs. \nThe economy of rural smart communities in Europe is a key focus area for the European Commission\, both short-term in securing equal access to connectivity and services and as part of the long-term vision for rural areas. DESCRIPTION:This workshop on Smart Cities and Communities is part of a thematic workshop series on IoT and Edge computing\, organised by the NGIoT and EU-IoT Coordination and Support Actions in collaboration with the European Commission and relevant associations\, networks\, and projects. \nIn spring 2021\, NGIoT workshops are dedicated to IoT and Edge computing in 6 key application domains: Smart Cities & Communities; Agrifood and rural communities (30 March); manufacturing; automotive industry and mobility (27 April); energy and health (18 May). \nThe purpose of the workshop is to: \n\nidentify research\, innovation and deployment priorities long term\, with a specific focus on the green and digital transformation of European cities and communities\nidentify trends and gaps related to the advance of IoT in urban areas and communities leading to sustainable pathways\,\nopportunities related to the convergence of IoT with other technologies\, specifically\, the current shift from cloud to edge; digital twins\, and AIOT based services\nmobilise the communities around the identified solutions and the upcoming calls under the Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programme.\n\nSpecial attention will be given to the role of “Edge Nodes”\, which are part of Europe’s Digital Decade\, and the goal of 10\,000 climate-neutral edge nodes.
